You are not behind, Life Upgrader. You are being prepared. Keep going. Your next chapter is loading.
There is a quiet pressure many young people carry today. It whispers every time you open Instagram and see a 23-year-old CEO, every time your course mates graduate before you, every time it feels like the world is moving fast and you are standing still. The question rises in your chest: “Am I behind?”
Let me answer you plainly: No. You are not behind. God’s clock is different from yours, and you are on time and still assigned and aligned.
Scripture settles this matter with clarity. Psalm 139:14 in The Passion Translation says, “I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord!” You were not mass-produced. You were uniquely crafted. You’re God’s uniquely crafted masterpiece. Ecclesiastes 3:1 adds, “TO EVERYTHING there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven.” (AMPC). That means your life has a season, a purpose, and a time that heaven has already approved.
When we understand this, three truths begin to reset our mindset.
First, comparison is a thief. God made each of us for a unique purpose, and our times are in His hands. The moment you start measuring your chapter 2 against someone else’s chapter 20, you will always feel late. But you are not reading the same book. Their assignment is not yours, and yours cannot be duplicated by them. To keep comparing is to abandon the race God gave you in order to run someone else’s. That is a loss you cannot afford.
Second, God has not forgotten He made you. You were created on purpose, for a specific time. The word “late” is a lie. There is no formula to complain God into hurrying up about you. As a child of God, your responsibility is to align your thoughts with His divine purpose and timeline. You are divinely complex. It may take you a lifetime to keep discovering the best version of yourself, and that is by design. That is why you must trust the Manufacturer with your life. He knows how to manage what He made.
Third, start from where you are. Many people ask, “Where do I begin if I feel set back, left behind, or inadequate?” Begin right where you are, with what you have, and at your current capacity. Your present place is not a prison. It is a launchpad. You are exactly where God wants you in His plan and timing. He is counting on you to unleash your potential one day at a time. Your next Life Upgrade is dependent on this one decision: to start now.
We see this truth in real lives. Imagine Juliet. She failed her first university entry exam at 18. While her friends moved to 200-level, she felt behind and ashamed. At 20, she wrote again, gained admission to study Nursing, and at 26 she now runs a health NGO. Her reflection is instructive: “Those 2 ‘lost’ years taught me the patience and compassion I needed to lead.” What she called delay became development. God was not late; He was preparing her.
I have lived this truth as well. When we started the Annual Life Upgrade Youth Conference 15 years ago, I was 22 and felt too young. Others had bigger platforms and louder names. Yet God used those ‘early’ years to build people, not just a crowd. If I had waited to feel ‘ready’ or ‘adequate,’ Year 15 would never have happened. This year, we are preparing for the 16th edition. It is only by God’s purpose and timeline that we are still counting.
So I ask you: What is one area you feel behind? Who told you that timeline? Name it, then surrender it. The spirit of comparison and inadequacy has no authority over a child of God.
Pray this with me: Dear Lord, we know that our purposes and times are in Your hands. Help us trust Your timing for our lives. Cancel the spirit of comparison and inadequacy, and use us for Your glory, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Finally, act on it. This week, write three wins from the last six months and thank God for them today. Speak this over yourself until it becomes settled in your spirit: “I am not behind. I am on God’s schedule.”
You are not behind, Life Upgrader. You are being prepared. Keep going. Your next chapter is loading.
